The Power of Books and Movies
Prepare for impact
Prompt — List up to 5 books or films (or both) that have made a profound impact on you and explain why.
When I saw the picture of the little girl reading a Dr. Seuss book, it reminded me of how formative books have been in my life, starting when I was very young. I’ll start there.
Winnie-the-Pooh, by A.A. Milne
This dog-eared copy of Winnie-the-Pooh was a gift from my parents in 1951 on the occasion of my first birthday. They read it to me, and when I could read, I read it over and over and over again — as a child and as an adult. I made a lifetime connection with the characters. I have read it recently, and I have an audiobook to read me a bedtime story. This book shaped my understanding of friendship and loyalty. Not to mention that I shared my name with Christopher Robin.
